Forever 21 Lipstick Crayon

I’m not too huge a fan of Forever 21’s beauty line, only because they are notorious for ripping off some amazing Korean cosmetic brands (Tonymoly, if you recall). However, I’m cheap and a sucker for a good nude lipstick, so when I saw the Forever 21 Lipstick Crayon in Natural during an online splurge, I couldn’t just say no. I’m not sure if this is plagiarizing anything, so I can’t rant about it. For now.

I also need to apologize for slacking on posting reviews! I got a new job (yay!) so I’ve been super busy. I have a ton of upcoming products to post though, so stay tuned to hear about an awesome Vitamin C Serum and more.

Forever 21 Lipstick Crayon

Simple packaging, black and gold. I can dig it.

Only the Los in ‘Los angeles, ca’ is important. I’ll have to keep this in mind when I write my address on things.

Looks super dry and cracked, yeah? Well, it’s definitely not moisturizing… but not as bad as it looks.

The facts:

Matte
Not tested on animals

Pretty close on the swatch. Usually nudes are too pink or too yellow/orange for me. This one is just right.

Don’t judge my nearsightedness.

This lip crayon truly is a matte, and for that I am grateful. It’s not moisturizing in the slightest, but it also didn’t dry my lips out. I recommend a clear balm before or after if you need the moisture boost. This lip color lasted me a good four hours… until I had some frozen yogurt. Oh well, some sacrifices are necessary. It has a sweet, vanilla-almondy scent, not unlike those candles that smell like cupcakes or cake batter or what have you. Not too bad though, if you’re one of those people who are bothered by smelly lipstick.

Out of all the nude lipsticks I’ve tested out, this one is most reminiscent of the e.l.f. Matte Lip Color in Nearly Nude. Funny thing about that review: a few weeks ago I noticed a huge spike in traffic there. After investigating, I discovered it was linked to a glasses fetish forum. I’m not sure how I feel about that one…

This product comes in five other shades, including Red, Pink, Plum, Rose, and Coral Pink.

Pros: Matches my skin tone well, relatively long-lasting. Cheap at $2.80 USD.
Cons: Not that moisturizing.

Final Verdict: One of the more decent nude lip colors I’ve found, and super affordable? I’d call it a rebuy. Want to try it for yourself? Check it out at Forever 21.
